I’ll be the first to admit to being a puzzle junkie. In fact, my husband has “politely” informed me that I may not bring home any more puzzles until I finish some of the ones I already have. Oh, but there’s so many pretty ones! And the ones that occasionally arrive in boxes so damaged we can’t sell them obviously need a good home! Here’s what you need to know about puzzles:

If you invite me to a puzzle night and you live locally, I just might come. And may bring a bottle of wine (or have my husband cook up an appetizer – seriously, he’s a great cook!). Puzzles can be cut in a variety of ways and each brand can cut a different way.

The brands we currently carry fall into two styles:

Ribbon Cut/Grid Style: These puzzles will feature row after row of pieces, all generally the same size. It’s also very easy to distinguish between side pieces and middle pieces. If you laid a piece of graph paper over the completed puzzle, there would be a piece in every square.

Die-Cut/Random Style: These pieces are all over the map in shape. Some pieces you’ll swear are side pieces are actually center pieces. Springbok cuts their puzzles this way and they claim every one of their puzzles is different.

Family Puzzles Are a Thing!

If you’ve ever wanted to do a puzzle with kiddos, but you’re bored with 100 pieces and they’re frustrated with 500 pieces, you NEED family puzzles in your life! Springbok does 400 piece versions and Cobble Hill’s are 350 pieces. Each family puzzle features three unique piece sizes: big pieces for little hands, little pieces for grown-ups, and mid-size pieces. Each size will be grouped in one area of the puzzle, so everyone gets to work on the same puzzle together at their favorite level.

Accessories You Need:

Puzzle Stow & Go: If you’re short on space, but love puzzles, this thing is amazing! Work on your puzzle on the mat and when you need to tuck it away (either for company coming over, or out of reach of little ones), just roll it around the enclosed tube, and secure it with the included strap, until you’re ready to work on it again.

Sort & Go: Tired of raiding your cabinet for bowls and other containers to sort your pieces into? Try this! It’s a set of 6 puzzle piece shaped trays that can be stacked back into their box if they need to be set aside. But most importantly, you can still use your kitchen bowls for their original purposes!

Puzzle Scoop: You can now lift and move completed jigsaw sections with the Puzzle Scoop. It comes with a built-in LED light to illuminate the area that you are working on and acts as a magnifying lens with three times magnification. A great gift for the puzzle lover!
