It's never too early to start reading to your child. And the amazing thing about babies? It doesn't really matter what you read to them, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Hearing words in their native language, properly formed with natural syntax, plants the seeds of literacy. You could read weekly stats from your favorite sport to your infant, if you really wanted to.

This book by Aaron Becker is so cool! At Beyond the Blackboard, we're big fans of books that encourage early curiosity and learning. This book dives into the many, many color options present in our world, and uses unique presentation for color exploration. Using colorful grids of small squares with a variety of translucent inserts and painted squares, the colors shift and transition throughout the book. Add this book to your gift list!

 Love Makes a Family

This little book packs a super punch, introducing different families and family structures to children. Babies love the colorful illustrations, and it later provides an incredible introduction to the different ways that we, as humans, create families. Your children may enjoy pointing out the different mamas, dadas, and grandparents!

 Potty All-Star Board Book

Just as there's no such thing as 'too early' when it comes to reading to your kiddo, it's never too early to start talking about the potty! While the story is cute, it's also useful - discussing accidents, the details of 'going', washing hands, underwear, and more. Rhyming and sports metaphors make it a fun read!
